PUDUKOTTAI: A sum of Rs.5.88 crore has been sanctioned for Pudukottai district as the first instalment of flood relief to the farmers whose crop had been damaged by Nisha cyclone and torrential showers.
Inaugurating the distribution of cheques to farmers at the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks in the coastal villages of Karakathikottai, Avudaiyarkovil and Manamelkudi on Tuesday, District Revenue Officer R. Mahendravel said that the relief would be distributed to all the eligible farmers.
He said that the district administration had made special arrangements for the disbursement of the relief through the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks.
A list of beneficiaries was available with the respective Village Administrative Officer and the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks of the villages.
Mr. Mahendravel said that cheques had been sent to the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks in Aranthangi, Avudaiyarkovil, Manamelkudi, Pudukottai, Iluppur and Kulathur taluks.
