Members of the CPI (M) staged demonstrations in front of the fair price shops in Dharmapuri district, and taluk office in Krishnagiri on Friday urging the Centre to ensure food security.
The cadre raised slogans demanding that the Centre should not reduce its allotment of rice and kerosene to States. They asked the State Government to provide 35 kg of free rice in the fair price shops. There should not be any delay in the supply of LPG cylinders to consumers and they must be supplied through the fair price shops.
K. Michael Raj, taluk committee member, led the agitation in Krishnagiri. In Dharmapuri district, K.R. Chakaravarthy, district committee member, presided over the agitation held in front of the shop at A. Gollahalli.
Agitations were held in Avvai Nagar, Kumarasamipettai, Kullathirampatti and a few other places in the district.
