Four persons were killed in an accident when a car and a container lorry were involved in a head on collision here on Friday. According to Inspector of Police, Pudukottai, T. Selvam, the incident occurred at Pottaloorani junction, three kilometres ahead of Deivaseyalpuram on Palayamkottai Road.

While three of six persons, who travelled in the car died on spot, two others were injured and taken to a private hospital, where one of them aged six succumbed to injuries. They were returning to Tuticorin from Tirunelveli after attending a wedding.

The deceased were P. Rajagopal (65) of Molagoundampalayam, Erode, R. Rajinikanth (35) of Perumalpuram, Tirunelveli, R. Rithinya (6) and Sarasa (65), wife of Jeyakumar, Thiruvananthapuram. Vinitha (33), wife of Rajinikanth, suffered injuries and has been admitted to a hospital. Vinay (3), son of Rajinikanth, escaped unhurt.
