Guitarist Wesley, 41, of Udhagamandalam, was found dead in a shopping complex in Periyanaickenpalayam police station limits on Sunday morning. Shop keepers in the vicinity alerted the police around 11 a.m. saying that there was a body in the complex. They had initially thought that a person was sleeping. As there was no movement till 11 a.m., they went there to try and wake up the person. It was then that the traders realised that the person had died. The police rushed to the spot and identified it as Wesley based on the identity cards in the shirt. They then alerted his family.Body found
Podanur railway police have registered a case after they found a body lying on the stretch of the track between Madukkarai and Podanur. The police said that the body was that of a male, aged around 50. The person had worn a yellow shirt and had a spear tattooed on his right hand.

Thudiyalur police have arrested a hotelier, Krishnamurthy, on charges of assaulting his father-in-law Chandrasekar. The police said that the incident happened at Chandrasekar's house in Kavundampalayam when Krishnamurthy had gone there to make peace with his wife Uma Maheswari and bring her back home. Chandrasekar and his son Gopalakrishnan had sought time from Krishnamurthy saying that they need time to counsel Maheswari. This led to a wordy duel and then exchange of blows. Assessing that the situation was getting out of control, Gopalakrishnan had asked Krishnamurthy to leave the house. Angered at the suggestion, he drew the knife he had and stabbed Chandrasekar. Neighbours rushed him to the CMCH, where he is under treatment. The police arrested Krishnamurthy.
Elephants destroy houses
Wild elephants entered human habitation in Urikal Estate area in Valparai and damaged close to five houses. No loss of life was reported, though. After residents raised noises and lit torches the elephants withdrew into the nearby forest area.
