MADURAI: The level at Periyar dam on Sunday stood at 130.9 feet with an inflow of 75 cusecs and a discharge of 600 cusecs. The level at the Vaigai dam was 67.09 feet with an inflow of 358 cusecs and a discharge of 761 cusecs. The combined Periyar Credit stood at 7,066 mcft.
The following persons were elected office-bearers of the Retired Police Officers' Association (Madurai) at a meeting held here on Sunday: president - P. Arumugam, former Commandant; vice-president - G. Jaisingh Thiyagarajan, former Deputy Commissioner of Police; secretary - M. Kalyanam, former Deputy Superintendent of Police; and treasurer - R. Kalimuthu, former Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The members passed resolutions thanking the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, for announcing the disbursement of arrears of retirement benefits.
They appealed that a site be allocated in the city for constructing a building for the association.
