It identifies Chennai as a new thrust market
CHENNAI: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has identified Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai, as its new thrust market.
It plans to improve the package tours from Chennai to Tirumala with the special Archana Ananthara Darshan and Balaji Cellar Darshan.
The APTDC has opened a new office on Burkit Road, T. Nagar to cater to the growing demand for tours, particularly to Tirupati-Tirumala.
Addressing newspersons on Saturday, P.V. Sesha Reddy, divisional manager, APTDC, said: "As one of the fastest growing tourism corporations in the country, APTDC has made significant strides introducing new tourism packages from Chennai and stepping up the infrastructure support and initiating value added services."
APTDC has given a thrust to nature tourism, especially water and leisure cruises. New packages from Chennai have been added to the convenience of the travelling public to Tirupati and Srikalahasthi. APTDC already has resorts at popular tourism destinations such as Tirupati, Horsely hills, Araku valley, Vizag, Hyderabad and Srisailam.
The Chennai office provides six daily trips to Tirupati and back. "We have inducted air-conditioned Volvo bus for Tirupati Balaji darshan after opening our new office. The office will work from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. all round the year."
The cost of a one-day tour (Monday to Friday) is Rs.700 for adults and Rs.560 for children. This includes the Rs. 100 darshan ticket breakfast, lunch and 2 laddus. There is also a daily tour of Chennai-Tirumala-Srikalahasti starting at 6.15 p.m. and returning to Chennai the next day at 4.30 p.m. In this tour, one can have darshan at 5 a.m. with Rs. 200 ticket, accommodation and also get two laddus. The fare for adults is Rs.1,100 and for children it is Rs.880.
A two-day tour is also possible to Tirumala and Srikalahasthi.
