Says the objectives of both parties on Tamils issue remain one and the same

CHENNAI: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s views on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue do not contradict those of the Congress, DMK president and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said here on Tuesday.

The objectives of the two parties remained one and the same.

There could be differences in the way the views were expressed. But, with respect to protecting the Sri Lankan Tamils, there was not even an iota of difference between the DMK and the Congress, Mr. Karunanidhi said in a statement.

Referring to the relationship between the parties, the Chief Minister said it was an example of how two parties could be accommodative of each other. Just as the DMK was cooperating with the Union government, the Congress was reciprocating in the State. The alliance would blossom, he added.
