Coimbatore: Reliance Communications recently launched its Global Systems for Mobile (GSM) mobile telephony services in Coimbatore City areas.
The first Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card was handed over to D. Nandakumar, Honorary Secretary of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, by V.G. Somasekhar, Region Head, Tamil Nadu and Kerala circles of Reliance Communications.
Talking to The Hindu, Mr. Somasekhar said the launch of GSM was being done in a different manner compared to the routine launch plans, wherein the rural and semi-urban focus was first getting the priority and urban areas in the final phases. The services were launched in Coimbatore after completing rural areas and it has not been launched even in Chennai. Reliance under the GSM mobile has launched a Customer Experience Pack in the prepaid segment wherein the SIM card is available at Rs. 35. There are loads of benefits with first recharge (FRC) of Rs. 60 that came with lifetime validity, double talk time on all subsequent recharges, offers free local talk time to any network worth Rs. 360 and offers 5 paise local calling on reliance net work between 11 p.m. to 6 a.m, Ajay Awasthi, Chief Executive Officer – Tamil Nadu circle, said.
