Power cutCHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Nungambakkam, Saidapet, Royapuram, Muthialpet, Panjetty, Kondithope, Toraipakkam and SIDCO Nagar on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance.

Programme postponedThe IIT Madras Alumni Association Chennai Chapter has had to reschedule the programme `How to get into IIT,' because of the huge response, according to L.S. Ganesh, president of the association. The programme, which was scheduled to be held on February 18, will not deal with the admission examination and related matters; it will only focus on the IIT education system and students' life on campus.

Pensioners' grievancesPensioners may submit their specific grievances in duplicate in the prescribed format to the Collector of Chennai, Singaravelar Maaligai, 32, Rajaji Salai, Chennai -1, on or before February 24. A Pensioners' Grievance Redress Day meeting will be convened in April at the Collectorate to hear and redress grievances relating to pension benefits of the State Government.

The grievance form should include the following details: pensioner's name and address; name of the office last served and the communicate head office with full address of both; date of retirement and P.P.O. No; grievances (in short); and place where the grievances are actually pending.

Blood donation camp organisedThe Youth Red Cross wing of Valliammal College for Women organised a blood donation camp that was conducted by the blood bank of the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch, on February 14.

Online quiz contestThe Environmental Information system (ENVIS) centre of the Department of Environment will organise an online quiz contest from February 15 to 28 for students of class VIII to XII on environmental education.

Students from Tamil Nadu are eligible to participate by filling the registration form available in the ENVIS website by using the user ID and password.

Three winners will receive cash awards and certificates from the Director of Environment.

The winners' names will also be published in the website on March 1.
