CHENNAI: The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Board (HR and CE) has now joined the efforts to make Chennai greener. On Tuesday, it launched a scheme for planting of saplings by individuals, according to their Tamil birth star, at Tiruveteeswarar temple in Triplicane. People can select the species according to their birth star and it will be planted at the temple `Nandavanam'.

They need to make a onetime payment of Rs 1,000, to be used for maintenance of the sapling for one year, said HR and CE authorities.
