Releases third edition of `Tiruvarutpa Moolamum Uraiyum'

CHENNAI: The third edition of `Tiruvarutpa Moolamum Uraiyum' by Avvai Duraisamy Pillai was released by K.S. Bhakthavatsalam, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, on Wednesday.

The book is published by Vardhamanan Publishers. Mr. Bhakthavatsalam said that Ramalinga Vallalar's poems were enduring for the simple Tamil used. "I used to listen to Seerkazhi Govindarajan's `Tiruvarutpa' when I travel for work."

Ramalinga Swamigal stood for love, compassion for life and feeding the poor and expressed the deepest philosophies of life in simple words, he added.

N. Mahalingam, chairman, Suddha Sanmarga Nilayam, said literature in praise of the divine such as `Tiruvarutpa' stood the test of time.

A review of the book was presented by C. Subramaniam, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil University, Thanjavur, and R. Selvaganapathy. K. Rajaram and R.M. Veerappan, former Ministers, N. Murali, president, Music Academy, and P. Madhavan, Arignar Kuppusamy Sastri Ara Niruvanam, received a copy of the book. Villupattu expert V.K. Durairajan sang a song composed by him on the participants of the programme.

Avvai Natarajan, Tamil scholar, proposed a vote of thanks.
