SALEM: The National Service Scheme (NSS) of the C.S.I. Polytechnic College, in association with the NSS Cell of Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) and Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS), organised a workshop on Red Ribbon Club (RRC) Management for programme officers here recently. The Dean, Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, P. Anusuya, inaugurated RRCs in the polytechnic colleges during the workshop.

Role of media

She explained the role of media in the creation of AIDS awareness among students and the public.

Presiding over the workshop, the Vice-Chancellor of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation, Deemed University, J.S. Sathishkumar, stressed the need for sex education at the school-level.

Those who spoke in the workshop included the programme co-ordinator of NSS Cell, DoTE, V. Seetharaman, the Assistant Programme Advisor of NSS, Government of India, K. Vasavan, and the State Liaison Officer of Tamil Nadu NSS Cell, K. Veerasekaran.

The Head, Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, T. Jeyakumar, and the Regional Manager of RRC-TANSACS, Arthra Ashokan, conducted the workshop. The College principal, R. Samson Ravindran, welcomed.
