Special package planned for Tuticorin region
Tuticorin: The Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) conducted a tourism product promotion programme for travel agents, `Destination Malaysia', in Tuticorin on April 18, as a preparatory to the `Visit Malaysia Year' to be observed in 2007, coinciding with the 50th year of its independence.
Travel agents from Southern districts of the State such as Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Ramanthapuram and Virudhunagar attended it.
Later speaking to The Hindu, Joseph K. Jose, Marketing Manager, MTPB, said the main objective of the familiarisation programme was to help the agents to identify the locations of tourists' preferences in Malaysia, prepare tour itineraries and methods involved in the visa processing.
Mr Jose said there was a large scope for tourists from Tuticorin region to visit Malaysia over the next few years with the revival of commercial air operations from Tuticorin airport recently.
He said along with the incredible contrasts, clean environment and architectural marvels such as Petronas Twin Towers, which normally beckons tourists to Malaysia, we plan to introduce a special package for tourists from Tuticorin region, to tap the potential here.
"It includes a six night and seven day stay in Malaysia," he added.
