CHENNAI: Bharatiya Janata Party leader L. Ganesan has suggested a trolley path at Mambalam railway station to enable passengers to come out of the station.

Passengers, alighting from trains coming from southern parts of the State, have now to use a steep staircase. Those having car cannot use the main gate and reach T. Nagar except in the early hours of the day. This is because of the presence of numerous shops in the area.

Mr. Ganesan said the trolley path could be provided at the northern corner of the station. Passengers had found the facility useful at Dindigul, Kodai Road and Tirunelveli stations.

In a statement on Friday, Mr. Ganesan said he had spoken to Union Minister of State for Railways R. Velu and urged him to conduct a surprise inspection at the station between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. to understand the plight of passengers.

The BJP leader welcomed the Railway Ministry's move to install an escalator at Egmore station. As this facility could not be provided at all stations, trolley paths could be formed, he said.
