SALEM: School students took out a rally to create awareness among people on various environmental issues here on Wednesday to mark Earth Day. Organised by the Salem Citizens Forum, the rally, flagged off at Kondappanaickanpatti, culminated at Anderson School.

Over 200 students from Golden Gates Matriculation Higher Secondary School participated in the rally and raised slogans urging the people to protect the environment.

The forum strongly opposed the move to the cut trees on Yercaud Main Road.

Forum members urged the people to join together to protect Mother Nature.

Students also highlighted the negative effects of global warming.
