He was elected to the Assembly thrice from Poonamallee and once from Tiruvallur

CHENNAI: D. Sudarsanam, Congress MLA elected from Poonamallee, was sworn in as pro tem Speaker of the Assembly by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala in Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.

A senior Congress leader, Mr. Sudarasanam was elected to the Assembly thrice from Poonamallee (1991, 1996 and 2006) and once from Tiruvallur (2001).

The function was attended by the Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, and his Cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary L.K. Tripathy, Home Secretary Pawan Raina and a host of Congress leaders.
