MADURAI: The polling held on Monday for the 13th State Assembly witnessed several funny incidents. Of all, a stray dog, which joined a row of voters on the R.C. School premises at Sholavandan near here, captured the attention of many.
It was 11'o clock in the forenoon session, when the dog entered the premises after managing to escape the paramilitary forces stationed in the main gate of the polling booth, identified as `sensitive.' Even as it took a stroll around the premises, not many noticed it, as the voters were busy locating their booths in the school.
After gazing at all the five booths in the polling station, the mongrel chose the queue at booth No. 61M. It ran towards the queue and quietly sat behind a youngster, who was waiting for his turn to vote. The youth did not realize that a dog followed him, until it got restless after a long wait and sneaked into the booth with a ferocious bark.
Immediately thereafter, there was a big hullabaloo in the booth with the polling officers insisting on chasing away the dog.
When the presiding officer failed to drive out the animal out of the booth, the Central Reserve Police Force succeeded in ousting it.
While the few minutes spent by the dog in the premises created some anxious moments for the polling officers as well as the voters, the lens men were busy filming the movements of the crazy animal!
