Power shutdownCHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has announced that it would take up emergency works in the Tidel Park substation on Thursday. A TNEB release said the 11 kv feeder of the Spastics Society feeder coming off the 110/33/11 kv Tidel Park substation will be shut down from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday to attend to emergency works. Hence power supply will be affected in Taramani, Nehru Nagar (Kottivakkam), 100' Velachery Bye pass Road and Jeyandra Colony.

Training for poll staff postponedThe Chennai District Elections Officer has postponed the training classes for election staff for the city's 14 Assembly constituencies.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the District Elections Officer has said the training slated for May 3 and May 4 has been postponed to May 5 and May 6 respectively. The venues for the training centres are the same. All government staffers who have been assigned election duty have been asked to attend the training camps without fail.

Science campTamilnadu Science and Technology Centre will hold a three-day science camp from May 18 for students of Class VII to IX. The camp will concentrate on demonstrating several aspects in subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology. Yoga and puppetry sessions will also be arranged. Blood donationThe Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Red Cross Society held a blood donation camp at the Ford India company at Maraimalai Nagar on Friday. Another camp was held at St. Theresa Moore Church at Veppampattu in Tiruninravur in Tiruvallur district on Sunday.

Indian Bank and Seven Hills Fabricators in association with Krishnapuram Residents' Association will organise a blood donation camp on Sunday at Thyagaraja Mahal in Ambattur. It will be held between 8.30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
