TIRUCHI: A delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - Tamil Nadu State Council which had an audience with Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi recently, utilised the opportunity well to impress upon him the need for taking immediate steps for resolving impending major issues.

The main issue was the power situation in the State. "The present power position is satisfactory. But, with more and more industrial houses making attempts to establish major units in the State taking advantage of the conducive climate prevailing in the State and the various facilities available here, acute power shortage is anticipated in the future," the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Council of the CII, Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, told presspersons in Tiruchi recently.

The delegation also referred to the major ongoing infrastructure development projects in the State and underlined the importance of completing them in time.

The third issue discussed with the Chief Minister was the need for creating more expert work force to meet the demand in the industrial front.


The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and assured them to give serious consideration to all the three issues raised by the CII. The Chief Minister assured to hold another round of discussion with the CII, Mr. Sanjay added.
