The annual income of parents should not exceed Rs. 50,000

Krishnagiri: The district administration will provide scholarships to students from Backward, Most Backward and Denotified communities in the district for the year 2006-07 to pursue their higher studies.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Collector Santhosh Babu said scholarships would be provided to all eligible students doing their B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.Pharm., B.Sc. Nursing, B.V.S.C., B.Sc. Agriculture, B.E., B. Tech and B.E. Architecture.

All eligible students from Backward, Most Backward and Denotified communities admitted in self-financing colleges under Government quota through single window system would be provided with scholarship for pursuing their studies.

For BC and MBC, the candidates should have obtained a minimum of 40 per cent of marks in their school examinations.

However, this would not be applicable for students from denotified communities.

The applications seeking such scholarship should be attached with community and income certificates and a certificate stating that none of the student's family members is a graduate.

Similarly the annual income of the parents seeking such scholarship for their children should not exceed Rs.50, 000. Applications in this regard should be forwarded to the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officer through the respective self-financing colleges, Government or aided schools, Mr. Santhosh Babu added.
