    CHENNAI: Viewers would have another satellite television channel to surf through from September.

    Makkal TV, a Tamil satellite TV channel promoted by the Makkal Tholai Thodarpu Kuzhumam, is slated to be launched on September 6.

    Programme content

    The channel plans for news and news analysis as its central programming content.

    The programmes would involve senior professionals with hands-on experience in news production to provide Tamil viewers with unbiased news experience, says an official release.

    In a bid "to represent the true spirit of Tamil culture and society", the channel seeks to be an interesting alternative with programmes of culturally and socially conscious contents.

    It also promises quality telecast in terms of audio-visual clarity with its state-of-the-art technical and technological infrastructure. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi is expected to preside over the launching ceremony.
