NAGAPATTINAM: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living Foundation, inaugurated a tsunami housing project at Periyamanickapangu coastal village near Tharangampadi in Nagapattinam district on Friday.

The project is supported by the non-governmental organisation and its sister organisation, the International Association for Human Values (IAHV). He handed over to Collector Tenkasi S. Jawahar the keys of 60 permanent houses built by the IAHV.

The IAHV which has taken up construction of 94 permanent houses in the village with the support of Times Foundation at a cost of Rs.1.65 crores has so far completed the construction of 60 houses. Joseph Enok, coordinator, IAHV said that IAHV had acquired 7.5-acre land at Anaikovil village near Thirukkadaiyur to build a primary school to be upgraded into a higher secondary school and also a vocation training centre.
