VELLORE: The Boiler Auxiliaries Plant (BAP) of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Ranipet is poised to cross turnover of Rs.1,000 crore during 2006-2007, its first year as an independent unit, according to R.N. Misra, Group General Manager (GGM), the BHEL, Ranipet. In the last three years, the BAP has recorded tremendous growth. From a turnover of Rs.388 crore in 2003-04, it more than doubled its turnover to achieve Rs.819.09 crore in 2005-06 in two years' time.
"The credit for the immense growth goes to each and every member of the BAP family," said Mr. Misra in his Independence Day address on the factory premises in Ranipet on Tuesday.
He said that for generations to come, this year would be commemorated by the people of the BAP, for this was the year the unit crossed the milestone despatch of one lakh metric tonnes (MT).
Working together as a team, the BAP despatched 1,05,904 MT to its customers. In order to appreciate this, one has to see this in the backdrop of the project capacity of the plant of 57,000 MT a year. When the Chairman and Managing Director of the BHEL visited the BAP in December 2004, he had the vision of the BAP touching Rs.1,000 crore turnover in the shortest possible time.
"Today we stand at the threshold of this achievement. The BAP will cross this milestone this year, its first year as an independent unit.
It is this continuous growth of success, which has resulted in the CMD declaring the BAP as an independent unit on May 11, 2006." The target for this year is 1,22,074 MT, amounting to Rs.1,005 crore. During the last two years, the growth rate has been phenomenal and the trend is set to achieve the targeted physical and financial turnover, said Mr. Misra.
