Doctor sees improvement in his condition
Tuticorin: Tirunelveli MP Dhanushkodi Athithan, who was seriously injured in an accident and admitted to A V M Hospital here on Saturday, was flown to Chennai in a private chartered ATR-42 aircraft on Wednesday.
He was taken to the airport in a state-of-the-art ambulance and, while being flown to Chennai was on portable ventilator support.
Collector R. Palaniyandi and Superintendent of Police John Nicholson were present at the airport. Speaking to reporters just before Mr. Athithan was discharged, chief medical officer of A V M Hospital M.V. Lakshmanan said his condition had improved.
"Mr. Athithan opened his eyes on Tuesday, after a five-hour surgery in the wee hours of Monday, which is a sign of progress. On reaching Chennai, immediate attention will be given to stop the bleeding from the ruptured abdomen."
