For people living with HIV/AIDS The participants will treasure it forever

MADURAI: Perhaps, it would have been the most memorable get-together in their lives and that they would treasure it forever.

Arranged on the day before Deepavali for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA), a special get-together was organised by Russ Foundation and AIDS Prevention And Control (APAC) Care and Support project to make the PLHA as part of the society.

Starting off with a song by the cultural team of Russ, C. Glory, Counsellor, RUSS APAC, delivered the welcome address

"You should be happy, not just during the times of festivals but always," said the principal of Seventh Day Adventist School, Ambur, T. Jeyapaul. The purpose of the gathering was explained by A. Vanarajan, coordinator of RUSS APAC.

Later, sweets, rice, snacks, fruits and coconuts were distributed to the participants.

I. Velmurugan, Peer Educator, RUSS APAC, said that they had managed to overcome the stigma and discrimination faced by them, thanks to Russ Foundation and APAC VHS.

In keeping with the spirit of the Festival of Lights, Deepavali, the function ended on a colourful note with sparkles, fireworks and crackers brightening the faces of those present.
