Water levelMADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam stood at 131.40 feet (136 feet) with an inflow of 443 cusecs and a discharge of 1,275 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam stood at 55 feet (71 feet) with an inflow of 1,434 cusecs and a discharge of 1,971 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 8,758 mcft.

Constable ends lifeA constable attached to the Tamil Nadu Special Police (Sixth Battalion) allegedly committed suicide here on Sunday. According to sources, J. Prabhu (25) of Melur consumed poison and was found lying unconscious in his official quarters. He was rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital where he was declared dead. The Tallakulam police have registered a case.

Grievance dayThe Superintending Engineer of Madurai Electricity Distribution Circle will conduct a division-level consumer grievance day meeting at the office of the Executive Engineer, Tirumangalam, between 10.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
