MADURAI: The Southern Railway is to operate winter specials between Nagercoil and Bangalore in December and January.
According to a Southern Railway press release, 0647 Bangalore-Nagercoil special will leave Bangalore at 5.45 p.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from December 10 to January 30 and reach Nagercoil at 10.45 a.m. the next day.
The 0648 Nagercoil-Bangalore special will leave Nagercoil at 3.30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from December 11 to January 31 and arrive Bangalore at 9 a.m. the next day.
The specials will have one air-conditioned three-tier coach, 11 sleeper class coaches, 2 general second class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches.
They will stop at Bangalore Cantonment, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode, Karur, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti, Vanchi Maniyachi and Tirunelveli.
The following trains will stop at Srirangam for a minute between December 29 and 30 in view of the Vaikunda Ekadasi festival at the Ranganathaswamy Temple :
Chennai Egmore - Madurai - Chennai Egmore Vaigai Express, Chennai Egmore-Coimbatore-Chennai Egmore Express, Chennai Egmore-Kanyakumari- Chennai Egmore Express, Chennai Egmore-Tirunelveli Express and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Madurai-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express. The following trains will stop for a minute at Melmaruvathur between December 15 and February 2 during the Irumudi festival:
Lokmanya Tilak-Madurai-Lokmanya Tilak Express, Chennai Egmore-Kumbakonam-Chennai Egmore Rockfort Express, Chennai Egmore-Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Egmore Anantapuri Express, Chennai Egmore-Madurai-Chennai Egmore Vaigai Express, Chennai Egmore-Tiruchi-Chennai Egmore Pallavan Express and Chennai Egmore-Madurai-Chennai Egmore Vaigai Express.
