Supply of water for irrigation through the Pullampadi channel will continue till February 29.
In a release issued here on Monday, Anu George, Collector, said that normally, water for irrigation is supplied only for six days from January 31 to February 5 every year. However, farmers have been pleading for supply for a few more weeks to save their crops. “Acting on farmers' demands, the district administration initiated action to supply water,” said Ms.George.
She said that the discharge of water would be 110 cusecs for the New Kattalai High Level Channel (NKHLC) and 90 cusecs through the Pullampadi channel. The supply would be available depending upon water availability.
