Collector inspects construction of new Samathuvapuram in Agaram village

NAMAKKAL: Collector U. Sagayam directed health officials to initiate action against village health nurses who were found absent during their duty hours.

The Collector, while inspecting development works in Elacipalayam block recently, found a newly-constructed maternity care centre closed.

People in the area complained that the building, constructed at a cost of Rs. 1 lakh, had remained unutilised for the past several months.

Village health nurses were not coming to the centre.

Mr. Sagayam instructed the Deputy Director of Health Services to initiate appropriate action against the nurses who were found absent during duty hours.

The Collector also inspected the construction of a new Samathuvapuram in Agaram village.

The district administration was building 100 houses in the Samathuvapuram at a cost of Rs. 1.69 crore.

Of them, the construction of 60 houses and an overhead tank had been completed.

The drinking water distribution pipelines had been laid. The Collector asked the officials to speed up installation of street lights and complete road-laying work within 15 days.

Playground

At Ilupuli panchayat, the Collector found a community playground lying unutilised.

He instructed the officials to encourage youths in the village to make use of the facility and conduct sporting events for them. Mr. Sagayam wanted the officials to ensure proper maintenance of all library buildings and reading rooms in the district.

District Rural Development Agency Project Officer Samuel Inbadurai and senior officials were present.
