Curtain raiser will be a rose show on May 20
Udhagamandalam: Having conducted the 2009 Lok Sabha elections in the Nilgiris successfully, the district administration has initiated steps to ensure that this year’s summer festival was organised in a commendable manner.
At a meeting held here on Monday, the arrangements being made for various season related activities were reviewed by the Nilgiris Collector Anandrao V.Patil.
The curtain raiser, according to official sources, will be a rose show at the Centenary Rose Park here on May 20.
It will be followed by the annual flower show at the Government Botanical Garden on May 22, 23 and 24.
The second vegetable show will be conducted at the Nehru Park in Kotagiri on May 25 and 26.
The fruit show at Sims Park in Coonoor will be organised on May 30 and 31.
A photo exhibition will be conducted at the Lawley Institute here between May 21 and 30.
A two-day summer festival will be held at Gudalur on May 20 and 21.
While boat races will be held at the Pykara Lake, near here, on May 26, a boat pageant will be organised at the Ooty Lake on May 28.
An eco-trek from the Government Botanical Garden to the Dodabetta peak will be conducted on May 31.
Dance, drama and music programmes at the Breeks-HADP open air stadium will mark the summer festival.
