CHENNAI: A total of 550 personnel will be deployed for counting votes in the city on Saturday for the just concluded Lok Sabha elections.

Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni said that counting would begin at 8 a.m. at the three counting centres, Queen Mary’s College for the North Chennai constituency, Loyola College for the Chennai Central constituency and Guindy Engineering College for the South Chennai constituency.

On an average there would be 15 rounds of counting in each constituency and each round would take about 20 minutes. For the first time, the electronic voting machines would be randomly checked by the election observers.

A total of 14 tables would be used for each Assembly segment, one table for the Assistant Returning Officer and one for the Returning Officer.
