: The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University on Monday launched ‘Med ej' – an e-journal. The online platform will collate scientific papers submitted by postgraduate students of the university and of affiliated colleges. It was a measure to encourage PG students to write articles and publish their findings, said Priya Kannan, coordinator of Med ej.

Once a student submits an article, it goes to the professor who is supervising his or her work for approval. After which, the software allocates the paper to a reviewer who can accept, provide suggestions or reject the paper, said Dr.Priya. “We do not have one editorial board but at least 600 reviewers who are part of this initiative,” she added.

Mayilvahanan Natarajan, Vice-Chancellor, released the first issue of the e-journal set up by eParampara Technologies.

M.Chandrasekaran, Head of the Department of Endocrine Surgery, Madras Medical College, who initiated the Med ej programme, said the e-journal came up in response to the lack of journals for postgraduate students. The e-journal will also have an archive of papers but has a strict no-download policy. It can be accessed at http: // medej.tnmgrmu.ac.in/ Student/ Default.aspx
