Platform to showcase technologies, products

150 companies have registered so far

CHENNAI: The ninth biennial edition of the International Auto Components and Machine Tools Exhibition, or ACMEE 2010, will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, from June 17 to June 21, 2010.

The event, to be organised by the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers’ Association (AIEMA) and the AIEMA Technology Centre, would serve as a platform to showcase engineering technologies and products. About 500 exhibitors from 25 countries are expected to participate in the exhibition, whose theme would be ‘Opportunity for Growth,’ said ACMEE 2010 chairman D. Ravi.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, he said the exhibition would focus on various fields, including auto components, industrial robotics, low cost automation, welding equipment and information technology services. “About 150 companies have registered [to participate] so far and this alone would take up 35 per cent of the space available. Some of the countries likely to take part in the exhibition are China, Germany, Turkey, Switzerland and Israel,” he said.

Dilip Kumbhat, chairman of ACMEE 2008, said seminars, buyer and seller meets and visit of trade delegations from other countries would also form part of the exhibition next year. Engineering college students would also get an opportunity to present their projects. Last year, students from 15 colleges participated in the exhibition. Nearly Rs. 300 crore worth of business was generated at ACMEE 2008, which received 30,000 business visitors, he added.

M.V. Robert, convener of ACMEE 2010, said about 50,000 people were expected to visit the exhibition. Skill competitions would be organised for industrial employees in machining techniques.
