This is about the poor maintenance of the Kasturbanagar MRTS station. I travel every day by train from Kasturbanagar to Tirumailai and am appalled by the condition of the station. The Tirumailai station is at least swept every day. At the Kasturbanagar station, the area below the staircase looks more like a drainage. Water-logging has been a problem here for several days. All kind of garbage can be found strewn around, posing health hazards. The stairs and the platforms are littered with waste paper, plastic bags and waste food. It would be a relief if people concerned cleaned up the place and maintained it well.

Streetlights needed

Residential houses have come up on both sides of Madulam Poo Cross Street at Poonganagar, Tiruvallur. Despite several appeals made by residents, the Kakkalur panchayat has not installed streetlights. We request the authorities concerned once again to do the needful at the earliest.

Low voltage

Residents of Radha Nagar 3rd Main Road, Perumbakkam, are facing low voltage problem for the past eight months. Tube lights keep flickering and refrigerators, grinders, water motors and fans take a beating. Representations given at the TNEB area divisional office and complaints booked with TNEB emergency phone number 155333 have not helped.

Residents are regularly using candles during evenings and nights to help children to study. Authorities should install additional transformers to improve the situation.

Stagnant drain water

Chakrapani Street at the edge of West Mambalam serves as a vital link between Mambalam and Kodambakkam railway station. Sewage overflow on the street is not only an eyesore but also a major threat to health. Ditches can be found all over the street and a project work taken up by the MWSSB is progressing at snails pace, making the situation worse. Two-wheeler riders have scant regard for safety and ride at breakneck speed.

Sewage overflow and water stagnation at several points can affect residents of flats, traders, shops-keepers and snack vendors.

Schoolchildren using the main entry and senior citizens who visit a temple on the street also suffer.

I request the officials concerned to intervene and take steps at the earliest.

Expedite road widening work

Padi grade separator has been opened for the public, which has greatly reduced traffic congestion.

But the stretch of the highway-205 from Padi to Thiruninravur is narrow and encroached upon by vendors and shopkeepers at several points. We request the NHAI to expedite the road widening work, which has been a long felt-demand of people of Ambattur, Avadi and Thiruninravur.
