Lok Sabha members should concentrate on doing something good for those who elected them.
The first thing that they should do is to cooperate with the Speaker in conducting proceedings smoothly. The Prime Minister has requested the members to behave in an orderly way and he has also promised to show due respect for the Opposition.
All Members of Parliament take oath to uphold the Constitution. I suggest that they also take an oath to behave responsibly and help conduct the proceedings in the House smoothly and decently. This will be the greatest contribution to the people of India who have placed so much faith in them.
Salem.Traffic rules flouted
People ignore the traffic signal at Surampatty Four Roads in Erode. Even if the red signal is on people cross the road.
One wonders why people do not respect traffic rules these days.
This leads to fatal accidents. I request the authorities concerned to look into the matter and take appropriate steps.
Erode.Bus seats for women
In Tamil Nadu, except in Chennai City, bus seats are not divided between male and female passengers equally. Men occupy most of the seats and women have to stand behind the driver’s seat. The transport department should take steps to equally reserve seats for male and female passengers as in Chennai City.
Bhavanisagar.More buses needed
Metre gauge train services have been suspended from May 26.
Approximately 2,000-3,000 passengers have been using these services in the Dindigul-Pollachi-Podanur sector.
Now the passengers have to take route buses. Palani-Coimbatore buses are always jampacked and without extra buses the passengers are either stranded in the bus stand or have to stand in the bus throughout the journey.
As far as Udumalpet is concerned, Coimbatore-bound and Palani-bound passengers are forced to stand throughout the journey.
During peak hours, i.e between 7 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at least 20 special, point-to-point, buses between Udumalpet and Coimbatore and equal number of buses between Udumalpet and Palani should be run to cope with the rush of regular commuters.
