Sahithya crowned ‘Miss Chennai 2009,’ Vijay Victor Jesudoss ‘Chennai Man’

The contest is also being telecast as a reality show on Vijay TV

CHENNAI: Winners of the ‘Vivel Miss Chennai & Chennai Man India 2009’ relived the fun and excitement of their selection process and final crowning moment in Sri Lanka, here on Tuesday.

The team is back after the finals that were held in Sri Lanka earlier this month. First Lady of Sri Lanka Shiranthi Rajapaksa and her son Namal Rajapaksa inaugurated the event, which had very good response, organisers said.

The finalists were dressed as Barbie and Ken, to commemorate the Barbie doll’s 50th anniversary.

The second round of the finals saw the female contestants walk the ramp sporting Indian designer wear.

Their male counterparts were in Buddha batiks from Colombo.

The final round had eminent persons from India and Sri Lanka, from a host of professions.

Nearly Rs.4 lakh raised through the event, organised by Chennai-based event management company Viba, was donated for the cause of educating underprivileged children of Sri Lanka.

After a host of sub events that tested candidates’ spirit of adventure, personality, skin and fitness, Sahithya was crowned ‘Miss Chennai 2009’, while Vijay Victor Jesudoss bagged the ‘Chennai Man’ title. Kavipriya and Vijay Raghav were the first runners up.

Priya Thalur, Risita, Geethan Britto and Ganesh Ram were adjudged second runners up. Sneha and David Oscar emerged third runners up. The contest is also being telecast as a reality show on Vijay TV.
