TIRUCHI: Rich tributes were paid to late Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary in the district on Thursday.

The District Collector, T. Soundiah, administered the harmony pledge to the Collectorate staff.

The District Revenue Officer, V. Dakshinamoorthy, and other officials were present on the occasion.

Mayor S. Sujatha in the presence of Corporation Commissioner T. T. Balsamy and Deputy Mayor M. Anbazhagan administered the harmony day pledge to the Corporation staff. The Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Rama Jayampandian, administered the pledge to all the staff of the Department of Cooperation.

A large number of Congress cadres, led by Jerome G. Arokyaraj, urban district president of the party, garlanded the statue of the late leader in front of the Khadi Craft this morning.

Tiruchi Parliamentary Constituency Youth Congress election observer, Murali Reddy, Member, National Commission for Backward Classes, Subha Somu, former Mayor, Sarubala R. Tondaiman, former MP Adaikalaraj and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Campaign

Mr. Reddy also inaugurated the Youth Congress membership enrolment campaign by handing over the application forms to the leaders and others.
