TIRUVARUR: Dairy Development Minister U. Mathivanan distributed free land worth Rs. 3.24 crore to 5,396 farm workers under the two-acre land distribution scheme at a function held here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mathivanan said the Chief Minister had implemented over 80 per cent of the promises made in the election manifesto.

The State Government has taken all steps to ensure that the fruits of the welfare schemes reached the beneficiaries.

The schemes implemented for the benefit of women has been commended all over the country.

Referring to the steps taken by the government to provide relief to the people hit by the recent incessant rainfall, Mr. Mathivanan said as many as 37 temporary relief camps were set up and the affected people were shifted to these camps within no time.

The authorities took care to extend all assistance to them without any publicity, he added.
