CHENNAI: The District Welfare Officer for Backward Classes and Minorities, Chennai, in a release, said that an inquiry was to be held in connection with the death of Syed Ali who was taken for interrogation to the Vadapalani police station on December 12, where he allegedly collapsed.

Public willing to furnish relevant information can send it in the form of a statement with their names and addresses to the office of the District Welfare Officer for Backward Classes and Minorities by December 31, 2007.

Any statement received after the specified period would not be entertained, the release said.
