CHENNAI: The annual exhibition and ‘Shakthi 2007’ conference of the Marketing Organisation of Women Entrepreneurs (MOOWES) was inaugurated recently.
Inaugurating the conference, Vishranthi Charitable Trust chairperson Savithri Vaithi said women had proved their talent across a range of professions.
The inaugural session includes a week-long exhibition featuring products manufactured and marketed by MOOWES, a voluntary organisation that supports aspiring women entrepreneurs.
District Industries Centre general manager N. Elangovan spoke about the various self-employment and development schemes available for those interested in entrepreneurship. He stressed on the need to create awareness of such schemes.
The exhibition features several items such as home linen, silver and gold-coated jewellery, paintings and jute bags. It also offers an exclusive range of designer sarees and dress materials. A collection of cotton sarees and those with delicate embroidery and chikan work are also available.
The exhibition is on at Vijayaraja Marriage Hall in Shastri Nagar, Adyar, till Wednesday between 10.30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
