MATHUR (KRISHNAGIRI): Tamil Nadu is one of the model state in implementing various welfare schemes for the downtrodden, including the recently launched Kalaignar Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatments, said Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan here on Tuesday.
Addressing public meetings at Mathur and Bargur in support of the DMK candidate for Bargur Assembly constituency K.R.K. Narasimhan, he said that over one crore families with an annual income of Rs.72,000 or less would benefit from the scheme.
All members of welfare boards, including their dependents, in the State would become beneficiaries of the scheme. Each family would benefits up to Rs. 1 lakh for certain procedures in private hospitals and pay wards in government hospitals.
He said the Centre has also waived crop loan to the tune of Rs. 70,000 crore after the State Government waived Rs. 7,000 crore farm loans.
He said the Tamil Nadu is the only State to provide electricity to all the villages. The Government was also taking various measures to implement the basic necessities like drinking water, laying of road and education, Mr. Anbazhagan said.
