CHENNAI: Southern Railway is to run special trains to Madurai and Tuticorin to clear extra rush of passengers.

Madurai–Chennai Egmore–Madurai specials: Train (0606) will leave Madurai at 11 pm on December 19 and arrive at Chennai Egmore at 9.30 am the next day.

In the return direction the train (0605) will leave Chennai Egmore at 8.15 pm on December 20 and reach Madurai at 6.30 am the next day.

The train (0604) will leave Madurai at 11 pm on December 21 and arrive at Chennai Egmore at 9.30 am the next day.

In the return direction, the train (0603) will leave Chennai Egmore at 7 pm on December 24 and reach Madurai at 4.15 am the next day.

The trains will stop at Dindigul, Tiruchi, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram, Tindivanam, Chengalpattu and Tambaram.

The trains (0604) and (0606) will stop at Mambalam also.

Chennai Egmore–Tuticorin–Chennai Egmore specials: Train (0609) will leave Chennai Egmore at 7 pm on December 22 and reach Tuticorin at 7 am the next day.

In the return direction, the train (0610) will leave Tuticorin at 9.45 pm on December 23 and arrive at Chennai Egmore at 11.15 am the next day.

The trains will stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti and Vanchi Maniyachchi. The train (0610) will stop at Mambalam also.

The composition of the trains will be 1 First Class, 1 AC 3-tier, 8 sleeper class, 4 general second class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Reservation for the trains begins on December 19, according to a railway release.
