Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Minorities Economic Development Corporation will offer free job-oriented courses for candidates from minority groups.

Candidates can walk in for interviews to be held at Valluvar Kottam on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Interviews for courses in fashion knitwear and production technology, clothing production technology, computer-aided footwear design, leather goods designing and production technology, garment construction, designing, embroidery and surface embellishment techniques will be held between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the same day, interviews for courses in pattern cutting, sewing machine operation, apparel manufacturing technology, footwear technology, plastic processing, injection moulding, heavy and light motor vehicles driving will be held.

On Wednesday, interviews for courses in AC and refrigeration maintenance, computer hardware networking and software, tailoring and embroidery will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. the same day, candidates interested in courses in retail management and nursing assistance may attend interviews.

Some of these courses require only a pass in class 8 or 10 while others require a basic degree. Candidates must bring mark certificates, community certificate, school transfer certificate, income certificate and photographs for the interviews.

The courses would be conducted in government approved institutes, says a release.
