“Global warming is a serious issue affecting people”

CHENNAI: The cycle rally organised by Exnora Internationl, as part of the ‘99999’ lights-out campaign from Labour Statue to Light House on Sunday, saw hundreds of people participating with enthusiasm.

Inaugurating the ‘Transport simplicity cycle rally for Environmental Protection’, film actor Vivek said global warming is a serious issue affecting people and urged residents to cooperate by switching off the lights as part of the campaign.

Mayor M. Subramanian, who led the cycle rally, said the Chennai Corporation will provide support in switching off the lights for nine minutes at 9 p.m. on September 9, similar to the successful lights out campaign organised last year.

M.V.M. Velmurugan, CEO, Velammal Educational Trust, also participated in the rally.
