“There are reasons to believe he

could be falsely implicated by

the CB-CID”

CHENNAI: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s Rajya Sabha Member and legal advisor of the party, N. Jothi, has moved the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail.

He apprehended arrest in connection with the allegation that he had caused loss to the exchequer by travelling to Delhi and staying there at Government’s cost to attend the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal proceedings.

When the petition came up before Justice T. Sudanthiram on Monday, senior counsel and former Additional Advocate-General A.L. Somayaji submitted that though no specific offence had been committed by Mr. Jothi, there were reasons to believe that he could be “falsely implicated or harassed” by the CB-CID.

Matter adjourned

Additional Public Prosecutor N.R. Elango informed the court that no case had been registered against Mr. Jothi. The judge then adjourned the matter to November 29.
