Meet on knee surgery
The Coimbatore Bone and Joint Foundation held here recently a conference on knee replacement surgery.
Tough surgeries performed at the foundation were telecast to The Residency where over 250 delegates took part in the meet, a press release from the foundation has said.
Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon Velasamy Raveendran and other faculty members at the conference updated the delegates on the latest trends in total knee replacement. This was followed by the live surgery session. The release said that a 68-year-old woman who had not been able to walk even three to four feet because of deformed knees was operated upon to be provided with prosthesis in both knees that would last for the rest of her life.Conference

PSG Hospitals has organised lectures and group discussions till August 7 as part of the World Breast Feeding Week observance.
Medical Director of the hospital J.S. Bhuvaneshwaran, who inaugurated the events on August 30, has said in a press release that the theme of the observance this time was: “Breast Feeding: The First Hour, Save One Million Babies”. Environmental impact on breast feeding was a theme sought to be highlighted through an essay writing competition for school students.
The theme was: “Breast Feeding and Environment”. The release said 47 Inner Wheel Clubs had teamed up with the hospital to sensitise people to breast feeding through a campaign in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts and also in some areas of Kerala. Apart from motivation lectures during the event, pamphlets were being distributed .
