COIMBATORE: ITC Classmate Young Author and Artist Contest will be held in Coimbatore.

Being held in 34 cities across the country with more than 5,000 schools participating, the competitions seek to create an atmosphere for youngsters to learn, explore and connect with the world of literature and art.

In Coimbatore, about 100 schools are expected to participate. Registration forms will be available at the schools and students can submit the entries in their schools itself. Students should register their names with the school on or before November 15.

The stories and paintings will be judged on the relevance of the topic, originality of the idea, storyline and usage of colour.

Ten winners from each school will be selected for the city-level inter-school competition. Topics will be given on the spot. Three winners will be chosen from the city. The city-level winners of the Young Author contest will compete in the National Finals, which will be held in Mumbai. The winner at the national level will win a trip to Paris. Rupa & Co. will publish the stories of the all the national finalists.

The top 40 paintings at the Young Artist contest will be exhibited at the national finals as part of an all India painting exhibition.
