SALEM: Reacting to the observations of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Committee on Public Undertakings that the premises of the Government Medical College Hospital here was not neat and tidy, the hospital management on Saturday approached the Salem Corporation to remove the mounting garbage and clear the choking sewers.

A team of conservancy workers cleaned the toilets and sprayers were used to disinfect the entire hospital complex. The works, involving nearly about 100 conservancy workers, lasted for nearly an hour.

Committee chairman G. K. Mani talking to newsmen, after completing the two-day inspection in the district, said that he would take up the issue with the Health Minister. This is the worst-maintained government hospital in the State, he said.
