NAGAPATTINAM: As many as 16,409 disabled persons have so far been issued national identity cards in Nagapattinam district and special camps will be conducted by the District Disabled Rehabilitation department, Sarva Shiksha Abhyan scheme and through the Government’s `Vaazhndu Kattuvom’ scheme for issue of the identity cards for those who did not get the cards so far.

Collector Tenkasi S. Jawahar said here on Tuesday that the national disabled identity cards would enable disabled persons to get the Government’s assistance without difficulty.

Free medical camps

The Collector pointed out that special free medical camps were being conducted in rural areas in the district from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and details of these camps could be ascertained from the District Disabled Rehabilitation department situated in the Collector’s office here.
