Tuticorin: TASMAC employees, affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), submitted a memorandum to the Collector, R. Palaniyandi, urging the administration to take steps to disburse fringe benefits to all employees this year.

According to them, 20 per cent bonus and an equal percentage of ex-gratia should be distributed to the employees across the ranks.

They pointed out that the package would not create any financial burden on TASMAC since the corporation was already making profits running into crores of rupees every financial year.

Earlier, the employees staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate.

E. Murugan, A. Marikannan, and Renjith Kumar, district president, secretary and treasurer of TASMAC Employees Union, respectively, and CITU leaders Essakki Muthu and Kumaravel, addressed the employees.

Tirunelveli

Demanding 20 per cent bonus and 20 per cent ex-gratia, members of Tirunelveli District TASMAC Employees Union staged a demonstration in front of the TASMAC godown at Munneerpallam near Palayamkottai on Monday.

The protestors, led by the president of the union, R. Karumalaiyan, said the Government should give them 20 per cent bonus and 20 per cent ex-gratia as the exchequer was receiving an annual net profit of Rs.7,500 crore through the sale of Indian Made Foreign Liquor.

Without unilaterally announcing the bonus for the TASMAC workers, the State Government should hold talks with their representatives and disburse the bonus at least 20 days prior to Deepavali.

A festival advance of Rs. 2,000 should be given to the TASMAC employees as being given to the government employees, the protestors demanded.
